Couples Therapy

Together. Creating a safe place. To listen & to be heard

In 20 years of practice, I have had the privilege to work with many hundreds of patients from all walks of life.   This practice continues to provide a deep insight, reflection and a practical view of the problems people face daily in their professional and personal lives.  Helping us to listen to each other, and to hear what our bodies are saying, lies at the heart of my work with individuals and couples, and is the start of new beginnings, reconciliation and healing.

Whether it is a matter that seems too insignificant to talk about, or too big to know where to start, Traditional Acupuncture & the Well Body Clinics help support individuals and couples with many different aspects of health and wellbeing.  For more information, please call to discuss in confidence.

Recognising our own triggers, knee-jerk responses and behavioural patterns, often means we are better able and equipped to recognise and process our own emotions, within a responsive and supportive framework.  Tuning in and listening to the cues of our physical, emotional and energetic body allows us to reframe these in ways that are more positive and helpful, enabling us to remould less helpful, negative or destructive traits, into ones that may actively embrace the life we wish to live.  Developing self-awareness of our inbuilt responses, and mindful practice that helps us to reframe feelings of unhappiness, loneliness or pain, means we are better attuned to listening to ‘the other’.  As well as understanding what is means to be heard.  This practice lies at the heart of individual or couples somatic body therapy.

Anxiety and depression are on the up, with many expressing a sense of unease or dissatisfaction, that is often hard to pin down.  Many express a feeling that their life is running away from them, and that despite all the external symbols of material wealth, happiness, status or career prospects, something is still missing.  This is a symptom of a system that is running on empty, fuelled by adrenalin or the stress of keeping up with goals or agendas that others – including society – sets and which it is hard to follow without losing sight of our own ideas or ideals.

Sometimes this translates as depression or low self-esteem due to lack of respect and recognition at work, death of a close family member, emotional distress due to separation, addiction, hypersensitivity, obsessive compulsive disorder, hyperactivity, sex addiction or lack of sexual vitality, loss of a job, or even a seemingly small event that can leaves us feeling overwhelmed.

Couples Therapy:

For couples the fall out from depression or low self-esteem can be hard to voice.  Often, on the outside things may appear to be ticking along, but internally between both the self and the loved other, there may be a rift or breakdown in communication.  This may lead to feelings of a loss of intimacy or trust, a lack of motivation or conversely workalism or excessive drive, problems with anger management or feelings of resentment or frustration, dependency issues or even a fear that things are just not working out.  All of these may have a knock on effect to our sleep and relaxation, fatigue or vitality of spirit, focus and concentration, reproductive and sexual vitality , physical wellbeing and immune health.

Whether it is a matter that seems too insignificant to talk about, or too big to know where to start, Traditional Acupuncture & the Well Body Clinics help support individuals and couples with many different aspects of health and wellbeing.  For more information, please call to discuss in confidence.
