There are many emotional issues that find a corner in our heart, and refuse to die down. Over time, these issues can transform into a figurative emotional tumor that may increasingly impact negatively on our daily life. Signs & symptoms may include a lack of concentration, loss of enthusiasm, self respect or motivation. Internally, patients often share how they find they are waking with a sinking feeling, or feelings of anxiety or of feeling overwhelmed, even when there may ostensibly seem to be ‘nothing wrong’. Often these feelings may be difficult to unpick or untangle, & it can be hard to initially understand why this might be. Other signs & symptoms may include a fear of change, depression & anxiety & loss of good quality, restful sleep. These issues can spiral into our lives in various ways and become channelled into other areas as we try to cope, This may lead to an onward spiral that can feel overwhelming – creating or perpetuating difficult or challenging patterns within relationships, professional life, & health.
Anxiety is something that exists in everyone’s life to a certain extent, and in a way it is medically known to be helpful as well. Because, anxiety helps us stay alert and be reactive to our circumstances, whether joyful or painful. However, when the anxiety reaches the stage where it overwhelms you mentally and physically, and affects your normal routine of life, you need the help of a clinical psychologist.
